Oklahoma City

Here are some photos from the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial. I took these when we first drove into Oklahoma, which was about two months ago. I think I am almost out of old photos that I wanted to upload. This means Im going to have to start taking some new pictures. I have some ideas brewing so now is the time to put them into action!

Also, in two days I have a project to complete for www.arthousecoop.com
I am participating in a project called "The Meal". I'll be taking a photo of myself and a snack at noon on the 24th. Im thinking of doing my favorite lunch snack ... a veggie sandwich! More updates on this in two days!

The one tree that survived the bombing. I found that this one part of the tree was really haunting.

The tree was so beautiful once the sun was setting and the lights came on. I love the reflection in the water.

Each of these chairs represents a person killed in the bombings.

Another beautiful reflection in the water.

Double Exposures and Overlapping

So a great feature of the Diana Mini is you can easily make double exposures and overlap your images. I did it by accident in the beginning because I didn't read the manual. With the Diana Mini you can take a double exposure really easily. There is actually nothing stopping you from taking a double exposure every time. So if you forget to wind the film forward, you can continue to shoot over the same frame over and over and over! And also, if you don't advance the film all the way to the next frame there is nothing stopping you from taking another exposure, thus overlapping your images.

That is just the begining of the fun though. Cause with the Diana Mini you have the option to shoot in a square format or a vertical rectangular format. And if you don't shoot a blank frame in between when switching formats you'll get overlapping. So really if you don't think about what you are doing, each and every time you shoot, you can accidentally get overlapping or a double exposure!

Now that I've gotten used to how the camera works I want to use those techniques artistically. That being said, these ones aren't that fantastic but I wanted to show them off any way.

My First Roll of Film With My New Diana Mini!

So here it is! My first roll of film developed from my Diana Mini. I was so excited when I bought it that I hardly read the instruction manual before putting this roll in. That led to a few interesting overlaps and heads being slightly chopped. I'll upload those later, but for now I really wanted to show off my favorite portraits. Most of them are of Aidan, my best friend's three year old fire cracker. He was a great subject to shoot (though he was more interested in taking photos himself!)

Just goofing around in the living room.

Eating sweet potato fries.

Eating a hot dog (can you tell he likes to eat?)

Just Leah.

Aidan fell asleep sitting on the ground! Poor little guy.

Playing the piano.

Playing a steel drum ... I think he is going to be a musician!

While on vacation in Ottawa, my friend and I stopped into a new store on Rideau Street. I saw this amazing little camera there. I had only seen this camera online and seeing it in person was such a great surprise. They had one out of the box so I even got to play around with one before buying it. So, with out further a-due ... the newest member of my camera family ....

Ive already taken two rolls of film, and developed one roll while in Ottawa. So tomorrow I plan on posting my favorites from the first roll of film! Its been a long time since I posted anything film related, so Im pretty excited!

Just Screwing Around With Photoshop .....

Here are two pictures I took of Gary while on vacation in Vegas. I had fun just playing around with them in photoshop, cause I haven't been doing that a lot lately. I forgot how much fun it could be!!!

This was taken enroute to Vegas. I love how the green sign and his eyes are at the same level.

I just like how his tattoo looks here and the colors are brilliant!

New Gadgets are Fun Fun Fun!

A while ago I bought a fun little attachment for my external flash. It gives a ring flash effect and I loooove it. These pictures were taken quite a while ago and again it took me a while to post the pictures. Slowly but surely I will get back on track and post things in a timely manner! Any way, here they are!

In the kitchen, Banana Bread

It has been waaaay too long since I've posted something. But truthfully I haven't been using my camera very much lately. Life has been busy with moving to the USA and getting my life started over here. Also, marathon training and finding steady employment. Honestly I took these pictures over a month ago but haven't had a chance to edit or upload them until now. I decided to multitask on this one. Take pictures while I made some tasty tasty banana bread. Maybe I could make this a series ....

Butter creamed with sugar ... one egg waiting to be beaten in.

Just before going into the oven. I tried to give the top of the bread a little texture, but in the end it didn't make any difference.

Waiting for the bread to cook. Playing around with some food I found in the kitchen.

Its done! Look at those yummy chocolate chips :)
