The Bathroom Project

Two years ago I started taking pictures of my friends in the bathroom. As weird as it sounds, its really not that weird. I only ever did two such photo shoots and then didn't touch the photos until now. Now I've got my favorites photoshopped and posted. Took long enought! Geeze. Any way, I played around with some text and a whole bunch of other stuff.

Is it horrible that I hope that through posting pictures of my friends I will create interest in my photography through their friends looking at my posts?

Flowers and Playing with Depth of Field

There are some pretty little flowers outside our room here at Fort Sill. I took these photos last week but since I have so much catch up to do, I haven't had a chance to post them until now! Im still not all caught up but it feels so great to be posting daily and working on my photography again.

(Not actually flowers, but I just love the depth of field here)

This Boy Is Amazing

The title says it all. Aidan is just a great guy. He has so many different sides and I think these pictures capture two sides of him perfectly. Aidan can be so playful, funny and cheeky. But he also has a very serious, clam deep side. After leaving Ottawa his mum sent me an email saying that he kept asking when I was coming back. That made me miss him terribly. Working on these photos brought back all the good memories I shared with him earlier this year.

Early Morning Posting Requires Coffee

I am in need of a cup of coffee as I post this. As soon as this is up you know I'll be making myself one. These photos were taken yesterday afternoon and I decided to edit them in two different ways. Coffee has a dark side and a light side so I represented them both.

Sun Set at Fort Sill

Yesterday I went out and photographed the sun setting on base. I went a little later than I would have liked but the colors were so beautiful that I took some photos any way. I want to go take photos again but earlier in the evening so that I can capture some detail in the foreground. My other goal is to take pictures of the Canadian geese that are making their way back up north. I am so excited every time I see Canadian geese. Its like a little part of home away from home.

The colors are amazing!

This one is my favorite. The reflection in the pond is gorgeous!

Oklahoma City

Here are some photos from the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial. I took these when we first drove into Oklahoma, which was about two months ago. I think I am almost out of old photos that I wanted to upload. This means Im going to have to start taking some new pictures. I have some ideas brewing so now is the time to put them into action!

Also, in two days I have a project to complete for www.arthousecoop.com
I am participating in a project called "The Meal". I'll be taking a photo of myself and a snack at noon on the 24th. Im thinking of doing my favorite lunch snack ... a veggie sandwich! More updates on this in two days!

The one tree that survived the bombing. I found that this one part of the tree was really haunting.

The tree was so beautiful once the sun was setting and the lights came on. I love the reflection in the water.

Each of these chairs represents a person killed in the bombings.

Another beautiful reflection in the water.

Double Exposures and Overlapping

So a great feature of the Diana Mini is you can easily make double exposures and overlap your images. I did it by accident in the beginning because I didn't read the manual. With the Diana Mini you can take a double exposure really easily. There is actually nothing stopping you from taking a double exposure every time. So if you forget to wind the film forward, you can continue to shoot over the same frame over and over and over! And also, if you don't advance the film all the way to the next frame there is nothing stopping you from taking another exposure, thus overlapping your images.

That is just the begining of the fun though. Cause with the Diana Mini you have the option to shoot in a square format or a vertical rectangular format. And if you don't shoot a blank frame in between when switching formats you'll get overlapping. So really if you don't think about what you are doing, each and every time you shoot, you can accidentally get overlapping or a double exposure!

Now that I've gotten used to how the camera works I want to use those techniques artistically. That being said, these ones aren't that fantastic but I wanted to show them off any way.
